ReDedication of Martin Luther King Dream Park: A Celebration of Legacy
Members of the Cornhill Community for Change gathered on South Street in Utica on Sunday to rededicate the Martin Luther King Dream Park. The event featured the unveiling of memorial markers for Mother Lavender and Samuel Dove, both former slaves who contributed to the community. Chairman Edward Jackson emphasized the park’s importance, noting its role as a community hub, especially in honoring Martin Luther King Jr. The park previously included a gazebo, which has since been removed, but it remains a vital space for community engagement.
