Boonville Holds Full Military Burial for Army Pvt. Hennessey
BOONVILLE, N.Y. – The remains of Army Pvt. Harland Hennessey, who perished as a Japanese prisoner of war in 1942, are being returned home after being identified through DNA last year. The community is invited to line Rt. 12 with flags on Thursday at 7 p.m. for his escort from the Utica Thruway to Boonville. Hennessey, namesake of VFW Post 5538, will receive full military honors, highlighting the ongoing commitment to honor veterans and POWs even after decades. This event symbolizes respect and remembrance for those who served.
