International Overdose Awareness Memorial at Utica Memorial Parkway
ACR Health has planted hundreds of flags along the Utica Memorial Parkway to honor lives affected by overdoses in Oneida County. This display includes 355 purple flags representing lives lost to overdoses since 2019 and 2,000 white flags symbolizing those who survived. The initiative coincides with International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31. Several city landmarks will be illuminated in purple throughout the weekend, and the flags will remain on display until September 2 to raise awareness and commemorate those impacted by substance use.
