Sunday Morning Crash in Whitestown Triggers Response from HAZMAT Teams
A semi-truck crash in Whitestown, NY, early Sunday at 4:25 a.m. involved 30-year-old driver Janvier Ndagijimana from Utah, who hit a jersey barrier and guardrail in a work zone, causing his truck to jackknife and spill 50 to 75 gallons of diesel fuel. HAZMAT teams from the Utica Fire Department and New York State DEC responded, leading to a temporary closure of eastbound lanes on the Thruway. Ndagijimana declined medical transport after evaluation by EMTs. The lanes have since reopened.
