Rabid Bat Exposure: 1 Person and 2 Cats in South Utica
A bat in South Utica tested positive for rabies, according to the Oneida County Health Department. The bat was tested on August 18, with positive results reported the next day. One person and two cats were exposed; the individual received postexposure treatment while the cats got rabies vaccination boosters. The Health Department warns that signs of rabies include unusual behavior in animals, such as acting strangely or aggressively.
